How Our Wooden Hot Tubs Work

All of our hot tubs are heated using wood-fired heater systems.

Log burning wooden hot tubs

This is used in the same way as a traditional woodburner. It has a regular fire chest with a door, a grate and an ash box. It works by drawing cooler water through a low pipe in the hot tub, the thermosiphon effect then carries this water upwards through the fire box and returns it through a higher pipe.

This eliminates the need for a circulating pump or electricity. Water temperature this way can be easily and efficiently heated up to the optimum temparture range between 36° and 38°.

It takes about 2-4 hours to heat the water to this temperature, depending on the hot tub size and the quality of the firewood.

The fire usually needs refilling around four times to heat the water to temperature.
